Renewal of WI-FI Networks in Apple Stores in France Companies as “dynamic living entities” evolve every few years. How this affects enterprises? These kind of changes impact companies networks (wired and wireless) so, new areas require wi-fi access points, some areas may need more RJ45, Cat5, Cat6 wall sockets to provide network access for workstations, printers or smart devices, these could be office areas or customer areas, meeting rooms. The second reason why a wi-fi or wired network (rj45, cat5 or cat6) need to be reviewed or revamp is because of equipment support, mots equipment are supported only for about 3-5 years, so, in enterprise environments network equipment has to be replaced periodically in order to have ongoing support contracts from providers. This is where IT Concierge comes in, when companies go through change, upgrades, migrations, these are examples of how we can help The Planning We start with an initial conference call request for quote followed by a meeting in person or video conference to discuss what is expected from us for the project, notably what par t of the project we need to fit in, in this case our technicians to be on site cabling and installing and replacing wi-fi access points. Often we do a pre-visit to assess the situation, (access with ladders and equipment, parking space. etc.) we also get office plans and the network topology required for the site Conference call to define the scope of the project with the Apple IT service provider or any other contractor or may be Apple IT staff. Then we calculate the resources required: human resources + amount and type of cable required, usually CAT 6 BLINDED, we assess the what tools and parts are required, Flx or not Flux testers, depending on the work requirements, we allocated resources to the project We discuss the deliverables, the procedures and standards to be respected, (e.g. for Apple even the distance from the floor from the access point is specified, and how specifically it has to be fitted, cable color codes, what tools need to be used, etc.) and finally we assess the tasks to be performed before and during the deployment, the protocol for testing once the access point is installed. We deployed 12 Apple sites in France during last 5 years, there as a New site in Vélizy-Villacoublay we deployed from scratch. The Process Simplified: Resource gathering Project planning Cabling and cable tests Fitting access points (approximately 35 in every Apple store) Connectivity tests Report and handover This project is to illustrate how we can help companies during change, and to help you to make smooth transitions during challenging times, we have replaced/extended Apple WI-FI network in 12 Apple stores in France.
